The Barn at Middle Spoad

A beautifully restored and modernised Grade II listed barn, sleeping up to 5 people, in a peaceful corner of South Shropshire overlooking the valley landscape.

Where we are

We are near the village of Newcastle in the upper Clun Valley in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Barn, with ancient beams and oak floors, is set in 16 acres of Wildlife Site (registered with Shropshire Wildlife Trust). The land is managed as wild flower hay meadows and wooded areas along the banks of the river Clun which meanders through the fields and trees. Read more about the Barn.

What we offer

This is an ideal place to relax. You can walk in our meadows along the riverside and small lake, observe the abundant wildlife including dippers, kingfishers, badgers and even otters.

Sit in the garden enjoying the view, or relax by the wood burning stove in winter.

Explore the surrounding countryside and historic towns and villages. Clun, Bishops Castle and Ludlow are all nearby. This is a great place for walkers – we are a field away from Offas Dyke national trail, the Shropshire Way passes nearby and there are many footpaths criss-crossing the surrounding hills and valleys.
